THIS LABOR DAY MAY BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY OTHER FOR DEMOCRATS

Today, we celebrate Labor Day as we do every year. Especially this year, working Americans should pause and reflect as to the meaning as reflected in part with Detroit's world renowned frescos by Diego Rivera.

On Labor Day we give honor to the working men and women who sweat blood, demonstrated, unionized, faced the police beatings and those who gave their lives in order to secure for this Generation basic human rights in the workplace or sweatshops, end child labor, establish a 40 hour work week, overtime pay, sick leave, vacations, unjust termination of employment, health care and so many other protections for the everyday working man. In fact, Labor Day as the case with other Holidays would not exist as a day off with pay.

However, in 2018 it is the most wealthy and corporate CEO's who have gained record increases in salaries while the average worker has seen little more than a 1% gain in pay and in some cases a loss of benefits. The Republican Tax Bill under Donald Trump is the biggest hoax played upon Americans.

Do you recall how Trump and Republicans proclaimed the largest corporate tax cut would create more jobs by corporations who would use the tax windfalls to hire? In fact the numbers indicate that only 1.7% of corporations actually re-invested by hiring or increasing benefits for their employees while average CEO salaries increased by a whopping 17 percent.

So as Labor Day also kicks off the mid-term election campaign, remember it is Republicans who screwed you and your family over and over again.

Should the Republican Party retain control of Congress after the mid-term elections, Labor Day will be placed on the "Endangered Species List."
