America then began shipping military equipment and supplies in coming to the aid of Winston Churchill and citizens suffering under the London blitz. Marine merchant ships delivered arms to them when not sunk by German submarines. Republican opposition continued to tie FDR's hands. What came next was more than remarkable, it was genius.
