MICHIGAN GOV. SNYDER IS SINKING IN THE FLINT RIVER & HIS OWN "WATERGATE"

MICHIGAN'S GOVERNOR CLAIMS POWER & BALLS TO RESCUE HUGE CITY DEFICITS;

BUT IS IT WATERGATE ALL OVER AGAIN?

News of the Flint Water Crisis is going nationwide, the outrage of  residents is growing expediently with the Powerball Jackpot and the State of Michigan budget is drowning in toxic water. 

Governor Rick Snyder is treading the political waters as he back-paddles to avoid the most critical of questions reminiscent of another Republican power-broker, Richard M. Nixon.

What did you know and when did you know it? 

The Flint Water Crisis is real, public officials point the blame at the Emergency Manager, the former Mayor and City Council, the Governor waits for the findings of an investigation while the children and most vulnerable in Flint fall ill.

There is no simple or immediate solution. It is not as easy as turning a faucet off switch hoses and turn the flow on again as this Governor might wish he could.

The State of Michigan will face another financial crisis that will dwarf the deficits of the Great Recession which the State has not fully recovered. Governor Snyder may have the best intentions, but his accounting methods, new taxes on retiree pensions, increasing the gasoline tax and blowing a $1 Billion budget surplus downgrades the State and his credibility.

Throughout his administration the Governor and his control of a Republican dominated Legislature once again failed to act with responsibility of their office and practice of  "due diligence."

Perhaps, the Governor should call upon all of his wealthy cronies and form a powerball lottery pool in hopes of winning the $800 Million jackpot. It nay be the best odds he will see this weekend.

Politically speaking it is better to speak the truth sooner rather than later. As the Lady Violet advised her son the Lord Grantham  in the most recent episode of Downton Abbey, "govern by fear...and minimize the damage."

It will not work this time Lord Snyder.
