After a briefing by the President's
National Task Force on March 24th many Americans could conclude we were not
being told the truth of the COVID-19 pandemic. The president vacillated on
policy, misinformation and at times a dismissal of science.
The President offered his own
interpretation of the facts contradicting that of Dr. Anthony Fauci from
the same podium in the White House briefing room. When Fauci presented the
sobering facts and nation-wide mitigation recommendations to attack the global pandemic,
the President minimized the crisis.
As the daily briefing became routine,
a reversal in the format became obvious. Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah
Leigh Birx led off the presentation by presenting the facts based on their
expertise. President Trump follows or quickly steps in to soften or dispute the
facts based on opinion and self aggrandizement.
Trump came to realize he now had a
platform to reach his base through the media at no cost to his campaign. He
went as far to proclaim "No, I don't take responsibility." He
attacked journalists and the media rebuffing questions, "What horrible
questions...who do you work for?"
Upon hearing the attacks of the
Freedom of the Press and the humiliation of it’s' members it became the signal
for those who practice critical thinking to take matters into our own hands.
Americans must know the Truth. Most can recognize lies. I then turned to the
internet to seek a source of reputable reporting and fact.
I found many resources aside from
The New York Times, Washington Post and other online publications.
Most are not aware of Foreign Policy
periodical that covers international news and reliable fact. I had become
curious and skeptical of the numbers of the COVID-19 spread around the world.
Questions I hope to address later.
However, I have inserted the interactive
map as provided by Foreign Policy and the link. There is more. Foreign Policy
publishes a number of articles relative to the pandemic here and around the
world.
I hope you can take full advantage.
The map above tracks the spread of infection and death and is updated regularly
shortly after noon each day.
